PJ grew up surrounded by the grand mountain vistas, the delicate beauty of the columbine, and the secrets of the pine forests. At a very early age, this inspired in her the need to capture and share the beauties of the earth.
Her experiences with animals, especially horses (she competed vigorously and joyfully in rodeos), helped her to develop an instinctual understanding of line and color, which served her well in her studies of art. She attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, and later, the Milan Art Institute in Queen Creek, Arizona. The desire to capture in paint a person's or animal’s energy and life force, or the spirit of tranquility in a mountain valley motivates her now, much as it did then.
These days she works in oils and mixed media. The richness and depth of oils never cease to amaze her and inspire her to learn ever more in how to use them. Combined with oils, mixed media adds dimensions to her ideas that often surprise her. Art is, for her, a never-ending discovery.
